First and foremost…turn on push notifications!
This is important as it will give you instant updates on your gig progress, letting you know when providers get in touch and much more.
Make sure to highlight your experience for each position as best as you can. You will be asked to select the number of years experience you have in each field and then enhance this with a written explanation of past work or qualifications. Providers will be keen to see where you have worked before so it’s important to take this section seriously. A good example is highlighted below
I have been trained in silver service by the academy of food and wine. I have worked at many large scale events at a variety of hotels and events spaces including the Intercontinental Park Lane and the Hilton London Bank Side. I take pride in my appearance and understand that the customer is always right.
For each job, you can email a previous employer for a reference through the app. If they respond positively, your profile will be updated with a verification logo. This is specific to each job you can do and shows employers that your relevant experience in each field has been validated.
Your rating is important to how you rank amongst all of those who have applied for a gig. The better your overall rating, the more likely a provider is to notice you. They can also add you to their “Favourites” so give the gig your all!
It is important to us that the people on our platform are honest, hard-working, interested in finding work, and doing a good job. With this in mind, please..
- Be punctual! If you are late or don’t turn up for a job on three occasions without a relevant excuse, your profile will be removed and you will no longer have access to the platform.
- Be honest! If it becomes apparent that you have not been honest regarding your level of experience, qualifications or references, your profile will be removed and you will no longer have access the platform.
- Any outstanding payments to you will be processed outside of the bi-weekly payroll period and therefore be delayed to the following fortnight.
All jobs posted on the app are displayed as potential gross pay, it’s a legal requirement that all work is paid minus personal tax and national insurance contributions; otherwise known as net pay.
Gig makes these payments on your behalf to HMRC so you don’t have to!
I’m new to gig, will seekers with higher ratings overshadow me?
New seeker profiles will be bumped up to the top of the list for a period of time. So don’t worry, our providers will get a chance to see you ahead of other seekers!
I have no experience and no references, will this put me at a disadvantage with gig?
Many of our highly-rated seekers started with no experience and no references. Having your profile bumped up to the top of the list when you apply gives you a level playing field with other new seekers.
I’m an international student, will I be still be able to use gig?
During term time, you are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours and 40 hours during vacation time. Our RTW check system will automatically disable your account once you’ve worked your maximum allowed hours.
How will I get paid? Will the payment go straight into my bank account?
Yes, you will be paid directly into your bank account within 24 hours of completing your shift. You’ll also get an extra payment every Friday with your accurate tax adjustment.
I have an emergency and can’t make it for a gig, how do I contact my employer to let them know?
Our “Notes” function within the app will allow you to communicate with Providers in the event of an emergency.
